Porur is a village of the metropolis of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India. It is a Gram panchayat in the Poonamallee taluk of Tiruvallur state of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Dwelling in a vital place on the Mount- Poonamallee road, Porur is recognized for its chemical industries and manufacturing plants, housing colonise and vegetable bazaar. Porur is located at an altitude of 15 metres on top of sea level and is bordered on the east and south-east by the Pallavaram Hills. The Porur Lake is the chief spring of clean water for the village. It is globally recognized for the Ramachandra Medical College campus which is located here. It is one of the fast-rising peripheries of Chennai.
